How much do you know about mechanical seals?

Date:Jan 15, 2021

Mechanical sealing technology relies on one or more pairs of end surfaces. The end surfaces are perpendicular to the shaft to make relative sliding, and they can still maintain contact under the pressure of the fluid and the forces of other compensation mechanisms, add auxiliary sealing device to achieve leakage resistance. The mechanical seal allows the contact surface of the static ring and the moving ring to remain permanently glued together during movement. Proper specific pressure is generated between the static and dynamic rings, and a liquid film is always maintained between the two to achieve sealing.

The main mechanical seal components used include end face sealing components such as static rings and moving rings; Auxiliary functions are also various sealing rings and sealing gaskets such as O-shaped, U-shaped and X-shaped; Compensation components include springs, push ring, etc.; Transmission parts include transmission screws and drive pins, etc.; Fastening parts include many, including push ring, spring seat, Gland, tightening screw, etc.

Mechanical seals are mostly used in centrifugal pumps, centrifuges, compressors, reactors and other equipment. It has good sealing performance, small leakage, long service life, low energy consumption, and no frequent maintenance. The machine seal is also very good in terms of adaptability, and can generally adapt to various harsh environments such as automated production and high temperature and high pressure, as well as harsh conditions for sealing.
